The aim of the initiative is to create incentives for children to go to school regularly and permanently.
Since one of the main factors for the low attendance is the malnutrition of the school children, we have set up school canteens. Children present now receive a free lunch every school day.

WE MOVE FOR HONDURAS
ARE YOU IN?
What? We are working together to help people in need in Honduras. Over the course of a whole month, we will move and collect donations for The Opportunity Project!
When? From the 1st to 31st of July 2023.
Why? To support people in Honduras as they strive to use existing opportunities and to create new ones.
How? We connect digitally via WhatsApp, get moving every day and collect donations from sponsors (family, friends, employers, clubs or our own wallet) who we encourage in advance to support our efforts.
Who? Everyone who wants to do something good with their exercise (e.g. running, cycling, swimming) or looking for a good cause to motivate them to exercise!
Impact? All donations go directly to our development projects in Honduras. An amount as small as €15 we can provide 25 children with a healthy meal. A larger amount such as €100 covers the school fees for one year for one of our TOP scholarship holders.

When you have completed the challenge at the end of July, ask your sponsor to transfer the agreed donation to The Opportunity Project (or gather all sponsor donations first and make the final transfer yourself). This way, your efforts will be transformed into real impact!

We provide targeted support to communities affected by poverty. To do this, we create initiatives that provide access to education, health and income. Our aim is to equip all members of the community - and particularly children and young people - with the tools to break the cycle of poverty.

FAQs
Will my donation reach the projects?
We are a small organisation and have extremely low administrative costs. Therefore, all donations really go to our projects. Currently, our administration costs amount to only 2.6%. This means that about 98.3% of your donation actually reaches the project on the ground. With other non-profit organisations it is often only 70-85%.
Can I get a donation receipt?
Yes, as an officially recognised non-profit organisation, The Opportunity Project gemeinnützige UG is authorised to issue donation receipts. We send them out by email upon request or at the end of the financial year.
What will my donation be used for?
All donations from The Opportunity Project Challenge go to support our initiatives and thus directly to the people in Honduras. Thanks to your donation, primary school children, for example, receive access to clean drinking water, adequate sanitary facilities and a healthy lunch at school every day.
How can I take part in the challenge?

Do I have to be in the WhatsApp group?
No, the community is there to help you support your goal. We also share small insights from the team and are hoping that participants might share snapshots of their activity every so often (such as a photo of a park, beach or trail).
What happens at the end of the Running Challenge?
Your sponsors can simply transfer the collected donations here. If you like, you can also donate a small amount yourself. Hopefully, you will have reached your fundraising goal, and be happy in the knowledge that you have made a positive impact on the lives of the people in Honduras.
